To Slide? Or not to Slide?
“Ugly” and “Horrideous” were the first things that came to mind when I started seeing the Slider-Sandal trend slowly tip-toeing around the blogosphere but here I am, bookmarking an image of the most fabulous pair of Isabel Marant dupes from H&M…
It’s strange isn’t it? The fashion world I mean. Designers take something so basic and quite vile and somehow with the help of their unique vision, transform it into this seasons it-item. Yes, initially I detested the sandals. They remind me of European tourists and dodgy supply teachers… however, I began to understand the appeal – nobody wants to look like they’re trying too hard nowadays, and these sandals epitomise that “fuss-free” attitude we spend meticulous minutes trying to re-create when forming that “I Woke Up Like This…” top-knot bun.
When looking into this “Off-Duty” mantra that everyone (including myself) is trying to perfect, I also came to the conclusion that the sandal is the sartorially perfect choice of footwear for another SS14 favourite, the slouchy wide leg trousers (and I also happen to think they look pretty dope with a leather mini skirt!).
I think the one thing that’s held me back on buying a pair is the fear of the whole look going out of style the minute I cave in and eventually buy a pair but since I just want to dip my toe into this trend I think I’ll settle for those gorgeous sandals from H&M (once they FINALLY release them..) rather than invest in the B-Stocks.
What are your thoughts on the Slider-Sandal trend? Will you dare to sport the dodgy supply teacher look? Let me know what you think.
